Should I tag my novel as Girls Love even though it isn't about romance?

Two of the main characters have feelings for eachother (they think their feelings are one sided though :blob_teehee:) and there is also a lesbian side couple. Thing is romance is not the MAIN focus, should I still tag it as a "Girls Love"?

Personally, I would say yes, because most of the people that care are using it to automatically hide your story based on the inclusion of "girl's love"
in any form (myself included). Then leave off the Romance genre.

There is also the "Girl's Love Subplot" tag if you think that is to much overkill, but sadly it can only be filtered in the series finder.

?:blob_hmm_two:

The main characters are both girls, right? I'd tag it as Girl's Love.

Definitely. It's still gay (although I recommend adding the Girl's Love Subplot tag to clarify it not being the focus) and you'll benefit more from including it as there are a lot of people who read things for the lesbians.

That's true, I mean I myself tend to read BL and GL even if the actual plot is on something other than smooching

Isn't two characters who have feelings for each other but just assume the other doesn't a Romance genre staple though? This definitely wanders close enough to "Girls' Love" that it should have that tag. If the romance ever takes over for a chapter or two, then it should also have the "GL Subplot" but if that is never a thing or just something in the background, then you don't need that, I think.
