I’m looking for the title of a novel. On another platform, the title is “SPOILED,” but it’s difficult to find where to read it because the title is too common.
The story is about a MC (main character) who does not understand emotions such as love, sadness, hardship, or suffering. In the past, he was a king who was fond of a commoner (ML). The MC didn’t really care about his people and only spent his time playing around with the ML. Eventually, the ML betrayed him for the sake of the suffering citizens.
The MC was imprisoned and became confused, wondering what he had done wrong. (The plot is actually very heartbreaking; I’m only telling the rough outline.) In the end, someone persuaded the MC to drink poison. A guard informed the ML, and the ML came to visit the MC. The MC screamed in pain and eventually cried out, “Kill me! Kill me! Kill me! It hurts so much!”
At first the ML tried to save him, but in the end he was forced to kill the MC because he could not bear to see him suffering.
After that, the MC reincarnates as a disciple. He has a senior brother from the same sect, while the ML has now become an emperor (I’m not completely sure, but his status is higher than a god). The ML descends to the mortal world and becomes an old teacher. He always accompanies and teaches the MC and his senior brother. However, because the ML’s body is that of an ordinary human, he eventually dies of old age, leaving the MC lonely.
The ML also has a kind of demonic affliction (like an old obsession he has long harbored toward the MC).
One day, while the ML is in the heavens, he hears that the MC is sick and that no medicine can cure him. So the ML descends to the mortal world again, wearing a mask, and visits the MC’s residence. The ML is shocked and shouts, “Who are you? Where is MC?!”
He grabs the person by the throat. The person cries out, “I’m MC! I’m MC!!!!”
But in reality, the real MC had already died long ago in this reincarnation world and had turned into stone.
