As tempting as it is to have all my past memories, I don't think my knowledge of the modern world is that helpful to me. The stuff that I can remember wouldn't be forgotten by me while the stuff I can't is irreverent. So it will be perfect memory moving forward.

You will retain old memories, but they will fade over time and not be as vivid perfect as memories created in the new world.

Can you erase memories you don't want in your current life ? You can't.

If you choose perfect past memories, you definitely won't be able to forget all the past memories. They're perfectly intact after all. You can only choose to not actively remembering it.

With perfect future memories, you can definitely slowly forget your past memories on earth, while living in the new world with perfect memories.

That's going to depend on if I can improve the lives of people in the fantasy world with my memories of the modern world.

You can remember every book you read back even the book you've read back in the kindergartens that you've forget.

With all the earth knowoledge you regain "perfectly", Improving the lives of people is definitely within your reach if you revisit all the references you need in modern world.

But having perfect memories for the future isn't a worse option either. It definitely would help in memorizing new books and analysing things to get higer position in new world.
