Mostly in xianxia with the villains hiring assassins to go after the MC and now in manhwa IRL quest, the rich prick hiring some goons to fuck MC up.
My question is, assuming you are the MC getting hounded by these sellswords, would you continue to go after them and their headquarters? Would you uproot their entire organisation should you have the strength?
This question is grounded by the assumptions of:
1. Said organisation has stopped their assault after a few failed attempts or even just one failed attempt.
2. Said organisation has no* vengeful plans against you, it is purely business.
For the first assumption, it is operating under the sunk cost fallacy and how a business should cut losses when required. The second point is basically avoid animosity against entities stronger or perceived stronger than expected...
*Should MC show weakness, bets are off.
Ps. This is just me having a question to myself as I recall some CN with the MCs slaightering not just his oppositions, but also all of the opposition's hired guns and assassins. The authors would often justify MCs' actions with the assassin organisation having their brains smoothened like laminated sheets as their top guns kept dying to MCs.
There are also other works where the organisation hired MCs after witnessing their talents or even completely disappear from MCs' sight, surviving past the villains' destruction.
