Preferred release rate of chapters?

What sort of chapter release rate do you feel is too slow, or to fast?

I'm trying to make up with the rewrite of my story and so I try to post daily, but I like posting 3-5 chapters a week with 2k words each. Sometimes I even post twice a day.
It really depends on how I'm feeling at the moment...

In western-based webnovels, the favored word-count seems to be around 1500 to 3000 words per chapter.

Also, the average author with a day-job can usually only afford to write around 5K words per week, divided up between the chapters however that might be so long as it's within that range, although 2K per week is far more managable.

As such, it's only really the type who can fund themselves completely off patreon donations who can write the 10K words per week necessary to release 5 chapters a week.

I will admit that the only story I have ever seen stably release seven chapters per week (Data Dragon Danika) was fully written before release started...

Though I do have to wonder how many serious votes there were on the "one per second" option.

Chapter releases should be based off two factors.

The first is book age. If it's a new story, you'll want to sort of "spam" out chapters. More chapters during the initial posting to take advantage of visibility.

After that, it should be based off "word count". I say that in quotations because stories with shorter chapters should be more proactively posted because they should be quicker to write, proofread, edit, and post. Longer chapters will obviously take longer to write and prep for viewing.

However, if your life dictates otherwise, then do what you are comfortable with. Your readers will adapt.

my brain actively conspires against me so my readers are lucky if they get a >1000 word chapter once a week so I personally try to be understanding with other author's paces (though hypocrisy is my main virtue and I always want more of the good stuff)
