I vote for the reprise of No Man's Sky (2016) as one of the wonders of the gaming industry.
It's almost a crime to forget TES IV: Oblivion Horse Armor. It was the breaking point for microtransactions and DLCs.I tried to go for titles that changed or defined certain aspects of their respective genres, something that, because of these titles, we have games after them that kept improving and making it all better.
I wasn't going for the horrific ones; I thought we were talking about the positive ones. It's almost a crime to forget TES IV: Oblivion Horse Armor. It was the breaking point for microtransactions and DLCs.
Fair enough, your inclusion of GTA V threw me off. Oblivion is an overall good product, direct precursor to Skyrim, but that DLC threw the gates open wide for greed that grew out of control.I wasn't going for the horrific ones; I thought we were talking about the positive ones.

I did not play Morrowind long enough to judge it in this regard, but the dumbing down from Oblivion to Skyrim is clear as day, and remains probably my greates disapointment with the game. 8 attributes and 21 skills reduced to just three basic attributes and 18 skills, and everything clearly simplified, along with other mechanics.Oblivion was the start of dumbing down, release after release culminating in F4 and Shartfield.
Anyway, Oblivion was/is great especially for its time. I spent way too much time with it. But objectively, since Morrowind, Bethesda has constantly been losing its grasp on the term: RPG, system by system, and by now they no longer even know what the word means.
The final nail was hiring Veilguard’s writer for TES6.
Bethesda is done. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
And if they are hiring the writer of that mess for TES6, my already nonexistent excitement about the game drops even further.

I mean, 7 wonders should be something grandiose, no? I am more baffled by the fact people didn't suggest WoW and DS1.No one is going to mention pikmin?
I wish that thing had never happened.
Yes, but it affected gaming way more than many great games.I wish that thing had never happened.
