Um, so, like, I totally went ahead and posted my work yesterday, right? I had this whole plan of waiting till I had like 10 chapters ready, but for some reason, I couldn't resist and ended up posting with just two chapters done. :blob_sweat:

I mean, I did have drafts for a couple more, but yeah, it's a bit of a mess now. Anyway, the good news is that people are actually reading the first chapter and some even added it to their reading lists. But, man, I'm stressing out about future releases and what I should do next. I could really use some guidance, guys. :blob_no:

And hey, big shoutout to all of you who've been supporting and giving me advice in my previous writing threads. I'm really trying to incorporate your feedback and see where it takes me. :blob_happy:

But seriously, what do I do now that I've shared my story? I mean in general what should I do on the platform !! Like are there some untold author norms that little ol me should know about? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, folks. Thanks a bunch for being there! :blob_reach:

Continue writing? Nothing will happen if no new chapters come and it will join the pile of abandoned ideas, forgotten, left behind in the deep vault of SH.

So worry about nothing, keep writing, keep posting and it will grow from there.

Basically did the same thing when started posting only being a couple forward, it really isn't that big of a worry unless you plan on charging for the advanced chapters thing.

Erm... keep at it? Best tip is probably consistency but obviously that's not always possible, just make sure you write something you enjoy otherwise the quality might die down a bit and no point doing this if you dislike it.

This guy's right.

Funfact, it was only after I wrote past my 20-ish chapters that I started to get some activity. Each chapter was around 3-4k, so that's almost 70k words until I found some loyal readers. Given, it was my very first writing, so it was very bad. Just be consistent in writing what you like (I know it's like repeating the same sentence that everyone else had said, but it really works) and don't be hiatus after a few hiccups.

Thanks, guys. I was thinking about the same thing. Your validation does make me feel a little more comffy. :blob_happy:

I was wondering what I should do after posting my work. I've seen some authors engage with their audiences, and I'm not sure what all of you do. For example, I've seen people post on authors' profile pages, and vice versa. Is it okay to do that without being seen as an attention seeker?, I mean no one did that to my profile till now, so kinda thinking about that.

Also, what is the "glossary" Thinggy? :blob_blank:

Should I find and follow some of the authors whose work I used to read before I started creating my own content? :blob_frown:

To be honest, I created my account after visiting the site for a few months. When I usually read on my phone, I usually clear my browsing history after I'm done. So, most of the time, I browse the site without being logged in. :blob_teehee:

However, I don't do that on my desktop, because clearing my history on my phone also clears my desktop history. (I know that cookies and other site settings remain in that case on my desktop.) :blob_uwu:

Responding to comments and stuff like that should be expected if a response could be given, responding to anything is always fine. Thanking your viewers for reading every now and then also isn't a bad thing, personally I wouldn't go onto every readers page and thank them that way though since that feels a little odd to me but that's just a personal choice.

Put whatever you want there lol, some use it for information about characters/factions/the world, I use it for AI art and stuff like maps, each to their own I guess. A lot don't even use it.

Maybe, it never hurts to get more ideas from other stories and obviously don't start copying stuff but that's not really what you asked. If you're still reading their stuff then yeah, never hurts to show a fellow author some love.

Just keep a consistent schedule and begin your work early in the morning. You don't have to complete or do a large chunk of your work in the first morning session but having it be your first mode of action really encourages proactivity and action

Try to learn marketing your work as well. See, a good story would still remain 'bad' if no one reads it.

Don't be like me. I may be noisy here, but irl I'm shy and would avoid talking to others asap.

Another is, don't believe in everything readers would throw to you. Everyone has their biases, so what may be ugly for them might not be for others. Don't get easily discouraged when you receive bad feedbacks. Form your plans for your work, and examine the comments you receive. Get only those that is useful for your story, and throw the useless reviews.

Procreate, and then you will have no more time to write, and even if you find a spare hour here or there, you won't have any energy left to write.

Dont have any idea how marketing or promoting works... :blob_blank:

um um... I will be positive as much as I can be... :blob_melt:

ahhmmn .. :blob_pout:

Then I have to go out and socialise again .. then find someone that can understand me a little bit again .. then has to charm her I don't think I would do that again .. then have to find a place for ourselves far from civilization cuz society sucks, then can procreation can happen without any disturbance .. :blob_blank:

See how difficult it is, how would I find a crazy girl again that will somehow understand my chaotic thoughts this time, and then how do you charm a crazy person? and how do you find a place cozy enough nowadays without selling your kidneys, :sweating_profusely:

I'm gonna stay single ..

Stressing out? Dude, just wing it. Books are easy to write when you explore them. But if you start rewriting after every negative commend, then... then they are no longer easy. Write clean, write once, be happy! =)

Just promote your work in your discord bio lol
Don't have any friends even on discord, I just join channels and enjoy content .. :blob_sweat:

Friends? What is this "Friends" people speak of? Never mind.
I need to get back to min-maxing a game you've never heard of and writing a guide to beating a game you'd never play.
I'm so edgy, people invite me to parties just to swipe blocks of cheese in my general direction. The resulting slices are as gossamer thin as the translucent wings of an Ethiopian dwarf dragonfly. The only problem I have is, people keep mistaking me for the catering staff.

Friends is an American television sitcom created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, which aired on NBC from September 22, 1994, to May 6, 2004, lasting ten seasons.
