It is at this time to admit that having the system is a cheat. Even the one that do not give out skills or ability points like candy and only keep track of stats is considered a cheat.
Having this lameass revelation after finally deleting the two 800++ chp CNs from my bookmark, cuz one is getting too Carrion while the other is regressing to xianxia faceslapping with a bit of mocking gold digging upstarts.
For the record, the mocking makes some sense, initially before the "genius" cheat MC came along, the young noble daughter was fancying a hardworking poor lad who was climbing his rank in the army and cultivation and also trying his darnest to woo the damsel, the damsel reciprocated as she saw in the poor lad grit and determination against his poor upbringing.
Then came MC came along and who happened to be poorer than the lad and achieving more. Immediately, the noble girl was like "MC is the greatest, smart (system boosted), composed (cuz he don't like to talk to the girl even though they were engaged) and caring (he shoved the girl away from "danger" because he wanted to gain more EXP and can't have the girl see) while the poor army boy is just desperate (all of his hardworking, decisiveness and ruthlessness were shoved underneath this) and naggy (had to approve of this, everytime the guy was up, he would begin with "I was from a poor family")".
Yeah, I kind of feel like wee bit sympathetic of the poor lad in this case.
What is an advantage? A good upbringing with caring family is one. A good mentor. Decent interpersonal relations. Having resources/ money and knowing how to use/ spend them wisely. Living in safety with basic amenities met.
I am not denouncing MCs for being worthless unlike some readers out there, I know that without MC being proactive and diligent, even having the system is useless. But I also feel that I cannot immerse myself into wish fulfilment works with MC having an initial advantage over others.
So I am now looking for MC who has nothing from the start, no future knowledge, no golden finger, no transmigration/ reincarnation, maybe not even having a roof on their heads. Just their fighting spirit, a decent amount of luck and willingness to jump on opportunities.
Or maybe they can just be Lu Bu and be a chronic backstabber who somehow not get rekted as an end.
