I added a new chapter to one of my stories, it was at the Latest page and I checked minutes later and the Latest notice on the page just disappeared from between two other chapters people posted at the same time.

This especially concerns me because it's an entry in The Adventum Contest.

By latest notice, do you mean "Latest Update" or "Latest Series". Oh well, I'll just leave it here.

- There is one problem when it comes to updating your chapter when your series is still on the front page (Latest Updates), this is a known problem to most people in the SHcord.

- There is also a prevention system where you republish the same chapter with no edits, it will instantly remove it from the Latest Updates.

. or did I read this wrong .

The main page at the bottom where it says Latest Updates. I am also concerned if my readers even got a notification of a new chapter since the update vanished like this. My second update there remains but I didn't take a screenshot of when my other new chapter was on the list.

I've included the screenshot of roughly where my other update was. The page for the story notes that it was updated 3 hours ago but there's no notice on the main page now. I checked all around the page and the one after it and it's nowhere there. I'm not sure why it isn't showing up now when it was on the list of Latest before.

I have checked on my side and see that your series is still up there at 42 minutes.

The Latest Updates system won't show every single chapter you post, only the absolute latest one, for example, you posted 2 chapters with a 15-minute gap. The one shown on Latest Updates will be the newest chapter. (I am probably not making sense, I hope someone else can explain it better).

You're close. It's fine. I just want to figure this out. I used the other update as an example. The other Latest is where my update for https://www.scribblehub.com/read/12...-ikigai-reincarnated-as-a-bug/chapter/129963/
should appear. It was updated 3 hours, nearly 4 hours ago, and there is no entry despite the fact the last update was June 3rd.

You can see as well that the main page shows the update - https://www.scribblehub.com/series/...-go-gokiburi-no-ikigai-reincarnated-as-a-bug/ And I just pressed release on it and it was on the page around ten minutes after I published it but it vanished at some point after I went to go work on something else.

To clarify - Hold or Fold appeared fine. But the Cockroach Girl story is the one with no notification that a new part was posted 3/4 hours ago on the main page. As well, there WAS an update listing but it's gone now.

I think I'll take screenshot of my updates from now when they appear on the main page to see if this happens again. I'm very upset to lose a day of work like this. :(

Are you using the sorting feature? Like sorting it after releasing chapters?

If so, here's the reason why it does it that way:
The problem is I have it that way to prevent cheating. What kind of cheating? In the past, it used to be possible to get back on the top of the latest update page by sorting the chapters around. Until I can come up with a better solution to prevent this, this will keep happening if you use the sorting feature to rearrange your chapters.

Sorting how? I shuffle unpublished work in progress chapters on the create page but I don't shuffle anything that's been published. I keep a chapter for world-building notes at the top of the list so I don't accidentally publish that.

Yup as long as you're using the sorting feature, it'll do that. If you're sorting any chapters, it'll trigger the anti-cheat system. Sorry but there's not much I can do at this time. I would recommend waiting a few hours after a release if you need to sort it.

Give me a minute and I'll bump your latest release to the top.

Ahhh...well shoot X_X. At least I have my sorts how I want them for the next few releases. Thanks for demystifying it for me. I'm still figuring out the ins and outs of how this site works. Just been here a month. Thank you again.

Here's what I did. I set up the next few chapters with outlines inside the drafts. Now making drafts and moving them around will set this off or do you need to save the sorting?

You can save the 'sort' right now. The anti-system usually only kicks in if you're using it X hours after publishing a chapter.

I also bumped your chapters to the top of the site's 'Latest Updates'.

Also, It's no problem at all!

My latest chapter didn't appear in the latest chapter section on the front page. I posted it later than I normally do, so i had put out a 'chapter' stating that my actual chapter would be delayed. After posting it I deleted the notice 'chapter', does the system also count this as shuffling your chapters to bump them up? Or does it just count my newest one as the chapter that was released hours ago that is now deleted?
I know I should have taken precaution against this and not deleted the notice 'chapter' immediately, but I am just asking for if something like this happens again.

IIRC yes. Similar thing with moving published chapters in their positions.
