So, I'm sure most of us have seen this link pop up the other day.

After looking at it and comparing it to Scribble Hub and Novel Updates, it appears to be another one of Tony's projects, though, interestingly, he's not listed as an admin for it.

The positioning of the link on the on Scribble Hub is comparable to how the link to Scribble Hub is positioned on Novel Updates, all three of them run through WordPress with a Xenforo forum, and they even have the same legal boilerplate (not that that is saying much).

It honestly felt so out of place that I checked with a bunch of other people that I didn't catch a browser hijacker.

Advertising a platform for original stories on the translation site? Sure, there's an obvious connection. It's all novels. The connection to celebrity gossip, however, completely eludes me.

I wonder if it's just a space/efficiency thing.

Eventually this takes us down a multi-layered rabbit hole into some cryptic ARG for everyone to solve cross-platform, just wait for the 4th and 5th sites to pop up at this rate.

Good point, my usual paranoia standard for links and other stuff meant I didn't consider that type of thing when first checking why the unfamiliar link was there, probably should have considered even more risks rather than assuming my default makes it hard for that to happen in the first place.

It's connected to me, yes. It's not a xenforo forum even though it looks like it. I'm just testing some things but I wouldn't call it a real project and it's not ran by me.

I can talk about my "real" project in about two weeks as I'm currently working on it. It's related to SH and NU (kinda). You can probably guess what it is if you think about it. No, it's not related to translations. I got a decent domain name for it I think.

I would like to build the project with the SH community though as in talk to the community for input, features, etc... as it's boring just talking to myself and researching by myself. SH was my last real project so it's been years. Just felt a but burnt out from SH so I wanted to start a new project but I'm only starting and building it, another developer will take it over in the future as it'll be better for the community.

I'll post about the project in my profile in about 2-3 weeks if anyone is interested.

When the time comes, can you make a thread instead of profile post pretty please? There are a couple forums users who like to post a lot on profiles so your post will be buried quickly. Thread is harder to miss and will attract those who don't log in to SHF very often.

The thing is I purposely don't want too many people to see it so I'll do a profile post on SH -> thread on SH -> thread on NU (?) as it'll just be a small group building together. I got most of the core features implemented but it'll be better to talk to a group for ideas

I actually like the new site? It's nice but I'm biased
