Is there a tag/genre that you have come to enjoy reading that you used to avoid no matter what?

So have any of you guys ever come to enjoy reading a story with a certain tag/genre that you previously would have avoided no matter what?

I used to avoid stories with the fanfiction genre because I was under the assumption that they were always bad. That is of course, until I read one on this site that managed to entertain me.

Not really, I am settled in my desires in life. So there are Genre/tags I avoid, under normal circumstances as they are not my preferences. But every so often look at just to see what is what. Have found a few gems and many many duds.

No, but I have had the opposite experience due to authors using the exact same cookie cutter 99% of the time. That is, I use to read a genre or tag, but now don't and actively avoid it.

Harem being trophy waman and shallow romance.

Where as eldritch horror I skip out on cause there's just so many tentacles, making people go insane, not understanding mortals, and random acts of violence I could take before I got utterly bored. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

I used to avoid Slice of Life as I thought it would be boring. Then I read my first transmigration with a domineering CEO and face-slapping which kind of springboarded into reading the others with that tag.

I fully avoid Harem as that's a male protagonist heavy genre and I prefer stories written with a female protagonist.

When I was still a young Daikon I used to absolutely hate anything that had romance in it. It just didn't work with me and for a long time I thought that I'm just the edgy type that hates love. But then I was introduced to the world of yuri/gl and the power of "just search by those tags" and now most of my reading list is romance. Hell, I'm even writing one.

I wish traditional books in bookstores had tags on them so I can just filter out what I don't like...

formerly genderbender. Most of these novels began in the spirit of "I lost my penis" but now I am not biased towards them. Now I don’t like tragedy, the authors basically ruin the story with it. A good tragedy is good, but you have to know where he belongs. I don’t want to read a slice of life where someone sadly dies at the end, only from old age.

Shoujo Romance, I think. Essentially romance from the woman's perspective. Not Harems or those Dating Sim crap, but a legitimate romance/RomCom is nice. Used to only like romance from a dude's perspective but then I came to realize that guys are boring.

Not really. I used to read only cultivation and system stories but then they kinda got ruined once the people who use templates got wind of the trend. I avoid BL and translations from a certain region as they tend to be smut/fetish stuff and/or completely brainless.

Not really in fact I would say the opposite. I used to only block smut and fan fic, but now I tend to find myself blocking smut, fanfic, drama, adventure, and tragedy. Of course there are exceptions or times where I unblock some or all of those tags, but at the moment I feel myself burnt out on the action adventure genre, fed up with pretentious melodramas (mostly due to Korean stories), and not in the mood for tragedy.

However that is not to say that those genera are bad here, quite the opposite. I have read a good story in each of the genres I mentioned here, but that is not where I go looking for a new story to read.

I used to never understand Gender bending, but after some time, I've found it pretty enjoyable. I even run a quest online that has it. More Gender fluid really, but it's fun to see how scenarios can change based on gender.

Horror. Only some of them though, many of them would better be classified as dark, or somewhere in between the two that doesn't have one name pinned down. Ideally a story placed in a horror, but not one where the horror is the point of the story. I used to avoid all of those, even the milder dark stories. Now I can take everything that isn't straight up deranged and/or revolting.
