But of course, ALAKAZAM-ALAKAZAM, the smuts fill in the dam

And you would not believe how many of these things named "Kinktober" I saw throughout my search in CoD.

I generally wait for the good fanfictions to rise to the top of the sludge pile and pick them after they've proven themselves. Aka the pokemon fanfics on royal roads' rising stars front page, then I take recommendations from the comments of those stories. The fanfics that reach the top here end up having too much smut (read: any) for my taste.

There was something about an ice type trainer that looked cool, and the synopsis said there wouldn't be any smut for a looong time, if at all. And guess what the latest chapter, only chapter 20, was? A hardcore detailed sex scene. Thanks.

On the other hand, "I will touch the skies" is really good and can get pretty dark at times, with the lewder content being fade to black or only hinted at, and only happening really late into the story after it feels like the relationship has been properly established. It was trending here plenty of times too!

After reading your coments, I had to look it up to see how awful a COD fanfic could get. Curiosity killed the cat situation. The first one to appear on my search, "Lavender Smoke" (by FirePandaLilyWrites), is about a female soldier who joins task force 141 to get dominated s*xually by the main cast. The second story, "The Truth behind the Curtain", had soap getting r*ped by Makarov and more Russians. They only got worse.
