And it was really boring. Props to the developers for managing to spook me, though. Not many games (or movies, books, etc) can do that. But once you get past the admittedly great atmosphere, the game consists almost entirely of going room to room, testing out each type of equipment until you get a hit, and then trying out another piece of equipment until until you get three pieces of evidence while hoping the ghost doesn't get tired of your BS midway through and decide to murder you. You're supposed to be able to hide from them when they go "on the hunt," but I've never once been able to make it to a hiding spot before they caught me.

Also, since your success depends on the readings your equipment give you, it'd be nice if it actually worked. When one of the ghost's tells is that it lowers the temperature below freezing, I'm not going to guess it if the thermometer stays over 32 degrees. Getting the spirit box to work is like looking for a plastic bottle with a metal detector. And unless every single ghost is the Hide Behind from Gravity Falls, I think the DOT flashlight is just flat out broken.

So...yeah, don't recommend.

You either didn't grasped the game mechanics well or the game is really that decent.

And you're playing solo, am I right?

Also, what difficulty were you playing on?

I never played phasmophobia, but I'd like to think there are some hidden mechanics you've yet to discover.

I still get back into it occasionally. The thing is, it's a kind of mediocre game. I can agree with that sentiment. It's more fun as a "party" game. If I play it, it's with a few friends, and all of us hate scary games. The idea is that we're all terrified of the situation, but we know what to expect, so we get our own comedy out of it.

If you play it as a "serious game", then yeah, it kinda sucks. Mechanics are mid, the equipment is gated, there isn't a lot of replayability.

It's only fun with your friends.
You get to loosen up a lot and well.... do shit together.
