There's an attractive female lead, though she might not be the most competent of leaders. I'm planning to possibly redraft the novel, so this is the sample/reader feedback phase. I'll post it all up quickly to read and tell me your thoughts.
Here's the synopsis:
As a duchess, they call me Lady Ava Ryder, and since I’m the XO officer on the Imperial flagship Malkyrion, the proper way to address me while in uniform is “Lady Commander.” I am a high-ranking officer in the Royal Lucian Navy, though if truth be told, my rank has more to do with my birth than anything else. When an emergency distress signal came from Sekai warning us that the Key which opens up a portal to the Agon homeward was stolen, the Malkyrion set out for the colony where the archaeological site is located. At the command of his Imperial Majesty the Emperor, we are to retrieve the Key, but when we got to Sekai, the Agon navy was already coming through the portal.
Now we’re in a standoff and this crisis is damn hot. Just this morning the hottest thing in my life was Julian August, a Royal Lucian Knight way below my rank and noble stature. Even off the ship, we are not supposed to be sleeping together—hells, I probably shouldn’t even be on this ship during a crisis like this!
