So here is the story.
My character is part of a twin. They are not liked as much by their parents in comparison to their twin sibling.
Due to this lob-sided treatment, they could not develop as much as their other twin who received more support from their parents. This resulted in them even less favoured than before.
As a consequence, the parents decided to let their other twin be the heir while they will support their twin. It's a similar concept as funnelling capital into investment with more favourable outcome.
Then their twin got kidnapped. After their twin got rescued, the parents and polices knew from the interrogation that kidnappers actually mistook the two. They were no big players so they only dared targeted the lesser of the two in order to not be retaliated as much but they mistook the identity of their target and aimed at the the wrong one.
Long story short, they got chastised by the parents. Their twin's lover (their secret crush) even confronted them. He said that they should have died in that house the kidnappers locked their twin in there.
This resulted in them committing suicide right at that place.
Would the lover get into legal trouble? I mean it can be argued that they play an indirect route but it can also be argued that a single statement in the heat of impulse is not reasonably foreseen-able.
