Most people use polls to get data, but I use it to see if there are options I can think up. There were a lot of good ideas for the ‘concept’ to a story. Many of them I’d forgotten, but had likely been at the back of my mind for some time.
Regardless of the votes, I was happy that I’d managed to find so many fine ideas resting at the back of my head. Now I feel like I can definitely apply the most interesting ones I like.
So which darlings will get the guillotine?
‘Fighting Against A Dystopian Society With Friends’ sounds like a concept that isn’t necessarily needed early. I could probably use this idea in the second act. After the first act but before the final and third act of the story.
Now… for the initial premise of the story.
I honestly like ‘Gacha Game But You Are Common Rarity’ concept. That manwha “Pick Me Up” is such a breath of fresh air.., but I feel like I’d make the same mistakes as before while writing. There is no ESSENCE to the story yet.
Being something isn’t a story. Maybe eastern writers get more mileage from stories like “I got reincarnated as a slime”, where the story is more something that is a result of the initial premise given. Things start taking shape as events occur.
I’m uninterested in that…
But maybe there can be a balance struck.
‘Fixing A Broken Plot’ sounds like motivation for the character to be active. Maybe that’s why it quickly got the most votes. If I add it to being dropped into a ‘Game World’ that acts on logic of a game, then the Main Scenario of why the gacha is summoning people can be the reason.
Maybe the main character didn’t like the game’s ending. Wanting it to be better. He then ends up falling into the game as a ‘Common’. The one who is playing the game being the one who directs the ‘player avatar’ to experience story.
If I take inspiration from Gacha I like, then I can also make the main character be a resident in a prison. That would give him time to interact with other characters at the game’s start. Having his fate decided by a ‘gamer’ would add tension.
…I feel like something is missing in this idea.
Maybe the MC does not need to be a member of the gamer’s gacha army specifically. He could be a ‘Doomed Character’ in the campaign that will totally die. He doesn’t even have to know he’s in a Gacha. Maybe that’s knowledge gained later.
If so, then how should he start his journey?
‘Touching The Secret World’ makes me think of a power fantasy. Suddenly gaining a gamer-like ability and using it to cheat the system… but I only liked the beginning of that Webtoon called ‘The Gamer’. Falling off when he got ‘strong’.
The power ceiling should be established early.

To list what I’ve learned:
1. Keep ‘Fighting Against A Dystopian Society With Friends’ and factional fights to the second arc.
2. Establish the character’s ability but make it have a power ceiling. An absolute limit established early on that will not change.
3. If the main character is a Gacha character, he does not need to be a meta character who knows the original plot.
4. Make the character active.
————————
Now this gives some inspiration.
What I can think up on the spot:
• The main character is an extra who meets someone who knows this world is a game. He can see the ‘User Interface’, but does not get any benefits from it other than information.
Why can he see it?
• Undecided.
What does he do in response to seeing it?
• Tries to use it for his own benefits and survival.
Where is this set?
• Prison.
Who are his companions?
• Inmates.
How will the ‘novel plot’ affect his reality?
• Undecided.
Honestly, I feel like an idea is forming in my head right now… but needs some time for me to work out the kinks. Maybe I’ll put this aside for now until I’ve thoughts of something. There’s no need to rush the process of creating the premise.
Any suggestions for this idea?
