I was originally planning on making a guy and girl matchup like what’s usually the norm. I had this whole thing about starting the story with a conflict of ideals… but ended up changing that to a battle between a grave robber and victim.

Fritz Lazrik, the last member of the Lazrik Clan of exorcists. After finding out the MC had stolen his family’s technique, he beat the hell out of him in public. The MC then explains to him that the reason he robbed his fallen family for techniques was ‘because there were reasons’.

This was very vague and only pissed Fritz off.

The MC’s hand in this conflict isn’t solely reactive as someone paying the price for his former actions. He sees Fritz as the successor of his father (who he hates passionately). Both of them sharing different versions of the same technique.

MC has the original version directly from the source. A control type technique meant for keeping enemies within their mental games. It can create an illusionary punch to act as a feint.

Fritz, on the other hand, has an attack version of that technique that was modified for more monster-hunting specialty. It focused more on infusing power into the fist rather than controlling the battle with realistic feints.

This chapters had a few goals: Introduce the main character’s main motivation and a few of his abilities. His hatred towards his teachers and parents what makes him use less abilities than he knows. Even going so far as to put away his most superior skill cards to create a synergy that’s solely HIS. Focus mostly put on him.

Although Fritz would be important in this battle to decide who among them will be leading the other, his motivation didn’t need angst fuel since the whole “You robbed my family’s grave” isn’t really needed to be elaborated on much.

This would not be clash of ideals, but a more personal vendetta between the son and his father’s modern successor. Holding evolved abilities that built upon the original its own way.

The chapter also introduced a third character who had obtained this specific technique they both have, but her variation being more personal and less able to be taught. Trying to foreshadow that their shared history would be important.

This third individual is their ‘Squad Advisor’.

That’s as far as I got in this chapter currently. The beginning segment was focused on Lex dreaming of before his rebirth and the latter adding mystery to the ‘real history’. He is more focused on his goals of uncovering the truth rather than his petty grudge towards Fritz.

No delinquent syndicate foreshadowing since we’re not there yet.
