Does my upload schedule make sense?

Hello,

I was scrolling through the forums on Scribble Hub and came across a discussion about conversion rates. Many people suggest that it's as low as 0.01%, meaning only 1 in 1,000 readers might convert to paying supporters. Is this truly the case?

For some context, my story is a fantasy novel, and I was considering uploading it to Royal Road (RR). However, I noticed that targeting the Rising Stars list on RR often requires investing in advertisements for an easier route to visibility.

Here’s the plan I initially came up with:

  1. Upload 40 chapters on Scribble Hub to build an audience.
  2. Make a few advanced chapters available as an incentive for Patreon.
  3. Be transparent and actively encourage readers to engage through favorites, comments, and Patreon support.
  4. Once I hit a goal of $110, I would start binge-uploading on Royal Road. I'd also leverage support from Scribble Hub readers, friends to generate initial (genuine) reviews and ratings on RR.
  5. Engage in review swaps, shoutout swaps, and advertisements to further boost visibility.
  6. Continue cross-posting between Royal Road and Scribble Hub for consistent engagement.

However, seeing comments on the forums suggesting such low conversion rates has made me question this approach. If I can expect only 1 Patreon supporter out of 7,000 readers, would this strategy still be effective?

Should I consider revising my approach, or does it seem reasonable as is?

It's entirely up to you. If it makes sense to you, then by all means, try it. I've got an average of about 1000 readers across all my stories (estimated. I don't feel like doing the math or double checking the numbers). That said, I've only got 2 paid supporters on my subscribestar.

That said again, I refuse to use Patreon. I've seen too many creators burned (some justified, some wrongfully, others are suspect) for allegedly violating ToS for posting things on OTHER sites.

What do you mean by violating tos?
If you could clarify it might help

Do not upload all at once; you'll get more readers posting it over time. Posting 1 a day for 40 days will be better than posting all 40 on the same day.

No matter how good your story is, people aren't going to make an account on a different site to leave a review or rating. Many readers in Scribblehub will refuse to use RR, and many RR readers won't come here.

yeah, not a problem.

One creator was accused of posting Loli (this was the guy that had his username used on sites he wasn't on). Another had a discord where someone else posted rape stories. his account got indefinite suspension. One guy makes a VN about high school girls (all over 18, but 1 looks underage, as she is used as comic relief for her small chest). It's completely clean, but his patreon got completely nuked/deleted for reports of nudes of the characters (created by someone else without his permission, as the images are made in Honey Select, so it's easy enough to recreate them).

Patreon thinks it's big enough to delete accounts indiscriminately without concern for its bottom line. And the issue is... They can and do. Out of millions of accounts, the total affected are in the thousands. So chances are, you'd be fine. But it's a risk i'm not willing to take. But ultimately, it's your call. most of these are unsubstantiated. but it made me look closer at the ToS, and yeah, it authorizes them to police other sites. So not only would you have THEIR ToS and, separately, the ToS of any other site, but you'd have Patreon's ToS on the other site as well. And it could be anything from loli, glorifying drug use (even alcohol or cigarettes in some cases), "gratuitous" violence or gore, etc etc.

Hmm i am not actually hoping anyone from scribblehub to review on RR, it's just that, maybe 1 out of (whatever number I have by then) end up helping me out.

I won't binge upload
It would be
9 eps in first 3 days
10 eps in next 7 days
16 eps in next 20 days

And then my normal schedule of 5 or 4 chapter per week.

I have 1988 readers and from that, 27 are paying for advanced chapters. That's 1.3%. So I'd say, yes, speaking of averages, that seems legit.
