Hello,
I was scrolling through the forums on Scribble Hub and came across a discussion about conversion rates. Many people suggest that it's as low as 0.01%, meaning only 1 in 1,000 readers might convert to paying supporters. Is this truly the case?
For some context, my story is a fantasy novel, and I was considering uploading it to Royal Road (RR). However, I noticed that targeting the Rising Stars list on RR often requires investing in advertisements for an easier route to visibility.
Here’s the plan I initially came up with:
However, seeing comments on the forums suggesting such low conversion rates has made me question this approach. If I can expect only 1 Patreon supporter out of 7,000 readers, would this strategy still be effective?
Should I consider revising my approach, or does it seem reasonable as is?

For some context, my story is a fantasy novel, and I was considering uploading it to Royal Road (RR). However, I noticed that targeting the Rising Stars list on RR often requires investing in advertisements for an easier route to visibility.
Here’s the plan I initially came up with:
- Upload 40 chapters on Scribble Hub to build an audience.
- Make a few advanced chapters available as an incentive for Patreon.
- Be transparent and actively encourage readers to engage through favorites, comments, and Patreon support.
- Once I hit a goal of $110, I would start binge-uploading on Royal Road. I'd also leverage support from Scribble Hub readers, friends to generate initial (genuine) reviews and ratings on RR.
- Engage in review swaps, shoutout swaps, and advertisements to further boost visibility.
- Continue cross-posting between Royal Road and Scribble Hub for consistent engagement.
