I have trashy vision.

Needed to get contacts a few weeks ago. My eye color is one of the most common. Brown.

But... does eye color really relate to how much vision you have?

I can usually see at night, but only with the lights on. My eyes are dark brown, if that matters.

Normal amounts of melinin means less light can reach your retina therefore good for a sunny day but bad in the dark

Yes it matters. But not for any big reason just that your eyes have a filter so they dont get damaged too easily
