This is just a little confusing and something that wastes a few seconds of my life trying to figure out what happened, but it would be nice for it to be fixed.

I just had someone @ reply to me in a comment. That single comment generated 2 notifications for me. 1 was for the fact they had replied to me. The other was for the fact I was mentioned in their comment. If it's only a single comment though, I feel it ought to only generate a single notification. Otherwise I'm left scratching my head and trying to figure out why the 2nd notification is leading me to the same comment I just saw.

EDIT in response to this comment.

Add a clarification on the OP to say that you are referring to comments in the Main Site please.

I was about to reply to you that Tony doesn't develop xenforo, so this issue wasn't something he could solve... Until I saw that you were talking about comments within the story itself... In your posts a bit after the OP.

So, yeah. This is an issue that came up on the main site, not the forum.

Also, in discussion we came to the conclusion that this is actually a bug due to the fact it happens infrequently (but is happening to multiple people.)

I've had that situation happen as well on some occasions. Not always though, strangely enough.

Now that you mention it, same for me. Now that I'm thinking, the place I got this double notification was for a comment on one of my own stories. I think that's the condition that creates the double notification. 1 notification for the fact a comment is placed on your story, and 1 for the @ reply.

Strangely enough, I have had that happen on and off even for stories that I wrote myself. The only thing I noticed is that it seems to happen more often if there are several comments in a row? E.g., somebody comments, I respond, they answer to that, and all of that in a short amount of time. If there's a longer time between the different responses, I hardly have it happen. I don't think it's really consistent even with that though.

Well, if we're seeing it happen that inconsistently, this isn't a design error anymore (which I mistakenly thought it was, thus the reason I posted in "feature requests.") It's looking more and more like this thing is an actual bug in the program.
