Blocking with consequences

Everyone has met at least someone on this site that irritates the hell out of them: maybe they spam, cause drama, or their reading comprehension is so piss-poor it irritates everyone around them.

Now the forum does have the option to ignore someone and put them out of your sight but I feel like it should be meaner. Blocking should have consequences.

Make it so that those you block cannot interact or see your posts either!
I don't want dumb-dums to touch my stuff, even if I'm not aware of them doing so

Unless they make the forum login-view-only they can get around that fairly easily. Also, I think the forum is a pre-built-thingy so it may not have an option like that.

If I can't see them, I can't report them. If I can't report them, they won't accumulate negative points. If they don't accumulate enough points, they won't get banned. Thus I have zero people in my blocked list.

We can also have the option to just make this site a read-only. Forum interactions taken away since most are not rewarding experiences.

If enough people block a certain person Tony should just sent them to the shadowban forum. You can see every thing but can only interact with others who have been put there.

I don't block anyone, I ignore them while seeing what they post.
Reason for that is because I don't let them affect me, and also it annoys people a lot more if they know you can see their stuff and be indifferent about it.

Yeah but there are spammy ones who need to be filtered out so I can see posts naturally and don't need to look through a pile of garbage first.

I've blocked 3 people I think. As long as I don't have to see their horseshit opinions, beliefs, whatever, I'm fine. I don't care if they interact with my posts. I'm annoyed they breathe the same air as me, but apparently wishing them to suffocate is immoral, so blocking will have to do, and be enough I suppose.

I spent about $150 a year on my message-board site, between the renewal fees for Xenforo, and those of the add-ons. They are well-worth the cost, and members contribute to cover those fees as well as hosting. Not much in life is truly free. Occasionally, there's a gem.

I know this is a forum and not a socmed and all that.

But I still found it weird after learning that the Ignore feature simply hid all of the ignored person's posts from you while they are still allowed to interact with your own posts.

Felt more like you're the one that got blocked instead.

I am not sure how it would work.

For example, I am currently blocked by the Thatadamsguy....

...I am certain I am blocked by others, but currently, I am not aware of those as there is no actual notification sent that you were blocked by the person, so only way for me knowing is when someone is very vocal how they solved their problem with me...

I could interact with these threads, yes, but it hardly matters to them. I could still have discussion with others.

Locking me out of the threads would make net fewer threads visible, which could be done for any reason, usually for disagreeing with someone.

Keep in mind, I don't need any reason to block someone, so this could easily escalate in the expansive blocking lists so no one could interact with no one else.

It would soon be out of control.

Plus, the novel site and the forum site have separate block lists. They could contact you out there, you know, and worse, interact with your story, which is actually worse than anything I or anyone else could say here on the forum.

The Royal Road already have blocking meta when it is actually desirable to block everyone posting on the forum. At least, it had it when I left, and I don't doubt things had gotten worse.
