This is what most stories' protagonists is all about; being born/ arrive at the right time.

Currently I am reading the novel and MC lamented about the loss of his predecessor's deity ascension due to being born too early. For the record, in this work, many talented cultivators who were born too early and was still in the age of qi deprivation chose to become demons via cryostasis and body snatching. MC's predecessor chose not such route and maintained his way of dao, which was all the sadder as he begrudgingly handled most of his learnings as a cultivator to MC whilst awaiting death. Worse part is that when he met MC, he knew that time is limited as MC took over his role as the gate guardian, meaning he loses his prolonged lifespan that had kept him alive up until now.

As MC leaves the temple with new knowledge and weapons, he sighed as the Heavens is unfair because he can tell that his predecessor is a great cultivator, but time and trend is not on his side.

So far I had mostly read about MC being in the time of crisis and soar above and beyond. I had briefly also read about when MC was born/arrive too early before the calamity/ big event, such as Mushoku Tensei, where MC still can live a life of excitement as he plans to leave his mark on the event by being the guy who affects the future. To be honest, I can't recall any works I read where MC is born AFTER the big event and in time of peace. Most dungeon/ dimension beasts works feature MC after the big breakout but is still in wartime so I can't really call it born after big event.

There was one I once read, I don't know the title but I remember vividly.

Basically the MC was once one of the heroes that ended the war with his comrades, but he died during the final battle. He gets reincarnated centuries later, when the war is over and everything is at peace. His whole objective is to find traces of the end of the war, he wants to know what his companions did, if they founded a family, if they achieved their dreams, etc...

But it's true that it's very rare

I have seen several novels with a gimmick of "what do u mean the world is at peace?" (I think it's also the name of one such novel)

I think by definition, you can't really avoid the "right place, right time" feeling that you get from most stories and their protagonist.

Unless it's an interactive novel, or a videogame with non-linear storyline, the characters will always be there at the right time. Or at least the time the author chose them to arrive. Which will, ultimately, always lead to the story the author wants to tell.

Like my four protagonists have the focus on them because it so happens they ended up playing the game on launch day in my story. The story would be on someone else, if it hadn't been them.

I do show, via guest narrators, the difference with those who haven't.

I think it's important to show contrasting characters in stories, because without them, it's easy to forget how unique or special the protagonists actually are.

It's basically Yamcha's role in Dragonball Z.

The emotion readers should feel towards the "Yamchas" in my story range from pity to support, depending where they fall.

Some of them certainly could use hugs.

Real estate is about purchasing at the right time. There is usually a right time once every 20 years. Save your money until the right time...

Oh, we're talking about stories... nvm... why is this in general category?

Probably because I am retarded.

As well as my habit to shove everything to general if I have no idea to put into author or reader.
