Heya everybody. Let me preface this by clearing a couple of things up first. I have read the terms of service of Patreon and have tried to understand them to the best of my ability. Going on from there, I'm not looking for clarification on them but rather personal experience or anecdotes about it. For the time I aim to use a Patreon page as a tip jar while I get my life together and build my backlog back up, enough to start releasing chapters earky for patrons like I've seen a few authors do. I do not expect to make any money out of it, my reasoning behind starting a page is that I lose nothing by offering readers the option. And if I make something, I make something, it is what it is. So, my questions are:

1. How accepting is Patron of NSFW really?

My story is highly NSFW, not only because of sexual content but because it's a story about gangsters and violence is a comon occurance. Neither the smut or the violence is over the top. There are no extreme kinks, no explicit non-consensual sexual violence of any kind, no hard gore or antyhing along those lines. Is that enough for my content to be allowed?

2. Is Patreon even a good platform for NSFW writing?

I am familiar with Patreon and Ko-fi the best, both of which seem to either treat writing as an afterthought or even not adress it at all. I understand that this is the way the internet at large is, it is what is. But is there a better site that is more suitable towards writing that I'm not aware of? My assumption is that Patreon, given their userbase, would be the best site for me, despite the shortcomings, but do correct me if I'm mistaken.

Thank you for reading, any an all responses are welcome :blob_evil_two:

I write reverse rape content and patreon would regularly take my posts down. So all I can say for sure is they are not cool with non con.

I have yet to use my Patreon account for anything but from what I've heard from others (mostly on Substack), if nobody complains, you can quite literally put up anything, but if even one person complains to them about your content, you'll be monitored and have stuff taken down within 48 hours of posting, even if it's fairly tame, once they have you "flagged." Not sure how long the monitoring lasts - the people I know who were slapped with it, either left Patreon or found another site to host "questionable" content and kept the tame stuff for their subscribers.

I see. That certianly sounds concerning, I'll try to look into it. Thank you for the response.

Subscribe Star has looser policies for smut than pateron as far as I am aware...many in the Adult Visual Novel industry had to switch when pat started cracking down on incest tagged avns or other 'edgy' tags.
