Have you ever gotten addicted to writing a new novel?

I'm definitely addicted to writing. Even though I don't have as much time as before because of my job so I'm not able to write every day anymore, I can't imagine ever putting down writing. It's both my hobby and obsession. My current webnovel has 347 923 words and it's still far from being...

Why do so many BL novels do it?

While I personally haven't come across the archetype you're describing (I guess I'm either lucky or read different genres), I also hate it when women in BL are shallow, sterotypical or almost non-existent. An extreme example of that is the vastly popular Junjou Romantica which contains exactly...

I don't know where I'm going with my life anymore.

Your symptoms sound a lot like burnout. I know because I've been there myself several years ago. It started slowly: being constantly overworked, then gradually losing interest in the job or any kind of motivation and the end result was severe depression and deteriorating overall health. There...

How can a character use wings on combat?

The protagonist of my novel Draconia Offline actually has huge angelic wings so I guess I have some experience on the matter I can share. I was trying to make it as realistic as possible (even though it's still pure fantasy) so his wingspan is 7.2 metres. I looked up some resources and...

    1st person or 3rd person

I always write my stories in the 1st person because I feel I can connect with the protagonist more deeply that way. Of course, it has limitations like not being able to skip to different locations to see what other characters are doing but I still prefer it. As for reading, I don't really care...

Do you prefer past tense or present tense?

That's exactly what happened to me. After reading so many YA novels, present tense became invisible to me. I also think it depends on the situation. Epic fantasy or historical fiction with several points of view is naturally more suited for past tense. As for romance or horror, which are genres...

Do you prefer past tense or present tense?

Thanks for that comment, you make a very interesting point. I've never thought about it like that before. Always learning something new. And seeing how much the certain kind of stuff I read influences me.

Oh, I've been here for quite some time now. ? I just wasn't that active on the forum (mostly reading passively). I mean to change that and engage more within the community. ? Thanks for your welcome, though. ?

Are you a discovery writer or a planner?

I'm sorry if I didn't express myself properly. ? I didn't mean it like that. Every writer is definitely unique and I also plan my story a lot. I'm now in 1/4 of my fiction and I know how it's going to end and what are the milestones/events/new characters on the way to get there. It's that...

Do you prefer past tense or present tense?

That certainly makes sense. Past tense has that historical feeling added value. I can't imagine reading, for instance, The Lord of the Rings in present tense. ? But I'm not writing that kind of story right now so I'll stick to present tense. ? I might try past tense for my second webnovel which...

How well does BL do on here?

I find it more than okay here. ? People don't comment much but it's much easier to attract readers when compared to Tapas where it's almost impossible get discovered.

Are you a discovery writer or a planner?

I dare to oppose. This applies also to renowned authors. It's not about being a lazy writer or a beginner, it's about how your brain processes the writing process. At least that's how Mr Sanderson explains it while mentioning his discovery colleagues.

Do you prefer past tense or present tense?

The question is self-explanatory I guess. When you're writing, do you prefer to write your stories in present tense or past tense? Does your preference change when you're reading? As for me, I write in present tense and can't even imagine writing in past tense. It just flows better (at least to...
