    Dropped stories and vanishing authors.

Honestly, I've considered not writing on ScribbleHub anymore just because organic discovery seems slow, and I think my work may be a mismatch for ScribbleHub's audience. It's possible that some (although not a lot, but some) of the writers that dropped off ScribbleHub went on to post somewhere...

What Makes You Actually Favorite/Follow a Story?

I have no idea how people get readers, honestly. ? Seems like luck? Having someone catch your chapter when it posts new.

    Feedback on blurb?

Dear Friends, I have spent...literally ALL day...working on this blurb. Thoughts? ?Zephyr --- When Lady Elise falls and strikes her head, Wisterly knows she'll be blamed. Desperate and hunted, she flees—only to collide with Mhordredd, a charming Guild thief. He takes her in out of pity...

    How to market and promote?

I've read some of your work and I like it a lot. I'm not a big author on RR or anything but I'd be happy to do a shoutout with/for you when you publish. Keep in touch and lmk ok?

Authors: have you ever used a paid beta reader?

I was on Fiverr noticing that there are paid beta readers in this world. Not editors...beta readers. I've decided to dip my toe into it myself, probably on both sides of the matter. If I can get paid to read and analyze, great! But if I can also find someone who will read and analyze my work...

What do you do when you edit your story or rewrite it?

Well...I usually read and briefly edit the chapter from the day before. Then I start writing for the day. There's a timer on it, shouldn't take more than 30 minutes or an hour tops. I'm considering batching my editing all into one day at the end of the week instead. I feel like it takes me out...

Philosophy VS mythology, which intrigues you more in a story?

I'm combining both in my story; I feel like this question may be a false dichotomy? There's mythology, but the gods themselves have their own philosophies. Same goes for the people: they know the stories, and how they interact with those stories is their personal philosophy.

Can a story end with mysteries not cleared up

Of course. You can also tease people. Like the end of the movie Pleasantville where you don't know who the wife character ends up with at the end: her husband, or the guy who owns the restaurant hangout spot.

How long do you give a book?

No I don't think you're crazy. It took me ages to learn that I only have so much time in a day or a lifetime, to actually understand that enough to put down books I didn't understand or enjoy. I used to be a completionist about them. Sometimes I'd be rewarded for that about halfway through the...

Recommendations I'm bored, give me recommendations

I checked the members online right now. It says "Total: 4,255 (members: 1,168, guests: 3,087)" Are they just counting people who are reading on the site? ? Because there's no way there's 4,255 people in the forums here, right?

I generally avoid novels with Romance in their genre

I feel like if someone is putting "romance" as a tag, then I expect it to take up a significant part of the story. I'm with you; I avoid them. If a little bit of romance ends up being in the story, I don't mind, but I don't want it to be the main focus. Some level of...

Writing [Tutorial] So you want a Critique? [Warning: RANT]

I mean...look. I'm a nurse. People have a lot of ideas about physiology and medical terminology that I find annoying as well, but I tend to not lecture people on their inability to understand professional terminology as members of the general public. I understand that using any particular...

Uh, do I use an exposition or keep the readers absolutely baffled with my concept?

Readers can piece things together, but sometimes it's good to find an excuse to explain. The action-exposition-action cycle is a great idea. I had to explain, at some point, why it was a surprise that an Acolyte would have their own private bedroom. My MC Acolyte walked into a space that...

Writing [Tutorial] So you want a Critique? [Warning: RANT]

I see. Hours for one chapter is not the level of critique I am ever expecting from someone, nor do I expect you to critique my work personally. I think the article you've posted here is defining "critique" differently than I do. "Critique" is colloquially used more like "give me your honest...
