What book restored your love of reading?

My love for it has never faded, I just have times when it is not practical to read anything. And other times when that is all that I do. Still need to get my Kindle charged back up so I can finish "The Big Sleep" come to think of it.

    Need some tips, Authors.

I would suggest giving the new novel a similar but different title and mentioning that it is essentially the same story for those who have read it when (if) you do share. That way, it IS a different but familiar story for them - and something you could publish elsewhere without saying "Oh, this...

That time I got scammed by AI

Planning can be great. But it can also be a straightjacket. I recently started rewatching one of the greatest "pantser" success stories of all time - a TV show from about a decade or so back called Orphan Black. Yes - that complicated story about multiple clone lines? Per an interview the two...

Writing One Sentence Paragraphs -- Trending in Free stories posted Everywhere.

One thing though, if you want to mimic the rapid staccato style of some writers (mostly scriptwriters, like Amy Paladino or David Mamet), the single sentence paragraphs can work in your favor during action or dialogue (heck, Dumas wrote dialogue that way with The Three Musketeers, which was kind...

    Writing Narrative Style

I think you may be conflating Voice and Style. I have a style that I've been told is distinctive, no matter what I do, but my actual style varies wildly, from the attempts to mimic pulp detective novels to the more generic action adventure, to the single narrator of Strange Awakening. I make an...

Writing Help me fix my bad writing style

Did they stop printing new editions every three to five years? That kept out of public domain for a long time, even after both writers died.

How can I change the cover image of my novel?

In fact it was an issue that took a couple of weeks to resolve, IIRC.

Discrepancy in your writing tastes and your reading tastes?

Biggest discrepancy is that I tend to read stuff with a "denser" vocabulary than I tend to use. But this is as much due to a tendency to adapt and borrow stuff I like from what I read, regardless of genre, etc.

    Worst experience as a writer?

Worst PROBABLY (will either find out tomorrow or second week of next year) was finally resolved last week - trying to find a way to get paid by Pocket FM... Took three months - or four if I missed the deadline again.

Recommendations Harem with Yuri on it

Had to re-read this three times to see that that was "Tyranny" - for some reason, kept seeing it as "Tranny" - which would be quite a different story...

    Thinking Of A New Concept

Sounds a LITTLE like the television adaptation of iZombie. Not a secret agent, but a failed (due to her death at a drug party...and then waking back up again undead) medical student turned coroner's assistant helping the police out. The neat thing was, when she ate a brain, she became that...

Warning: if you use tools like Grammarly, you need to check the output.

I've mentioned I once got into a discussion with one of the developers for Microsoft's abandoned AI project (they leased the tech for CoPilot from ChatGPT when CGPT beat them to market and fired 90% of the department). He is running a movie studio - except when they feel the need to hire real...

Honestly, I've heard this phenomenon described by real women, even in cases where she hadn't been violated.

How do you like to emphasize specific words?

Well, the original typed method was the overstrike - to go back and type over the same characters and attain a bold look. IIRC, early keypress machines (60s or so) added in the ability to italicize (But the one time I "helped" dad lay out the real newspaper he edited, we did italics by...

I was Isekai'd in my Isekao after regressing to a previous isekai and my Goddess got so annoyed that I was Isekai'd after being isekai'd for the tent time within the first day of being isekai'd she had me reborn as an immortal back in my original world, with every power, to keep me from dying...

    Rejection of AI story cover

After having a discussion with someone who worked on Microsoft's aborted AI attempt (ChatGPT beat them to market and they axed 90% of the department to use the money to buy the tech from ChatGPT), creating GOOD AI artwork IS a creative endeavor, sometimes as complicated as actually writing a...

Just noticed there's no "Western" or "Wild West" tag

If you're doing a Frank Norris-style novel, sure - he used a lot of history in things like The Octopus (about robber barons running railroads). But if you're going for a more cinematic Wild West, historical doesn't really cut it (especially since the "Wild West" runs from about the early 1800s...
