Something most people don't understand about Shirou Emiya, Fate Stay Night's MC, is that he is down right mentally broken. Amnesia, survivor's guilt, savior complex. He doesn't have a sense of self-preservation, the 40 bad endings proved it - as it punishes Shirou for being sensible and have common sense.

The worst part? Only one person out of the entire series realized it and made effort to save him (Rin)
