I think new way of worldbuilding can be split into two. First is taking what has worked before and overload it with unnecessary details, medieval fantasy in 95% of the time. Second is taking old concepts and combining them into something creative.
Lastly, a lot of people confuse overloading world with unnecessary details, bloating an already existing world, with traditional worldbuilding. A lot of them think they are new Tolkien or Ursula Le Guin, when in fact they are yet another shadiversity or random RR author.
