Yeah, I just asked a reliable source. The person did an experiment, they made a very degenerate novel. HOWEVER, it does not break any of content guidelines and doesn't have a sexual cover either. It is currently shadowbanned.
I am not sure how exactly it happens, but it happens. Maybe it is based on reports? Someone will report and write "This novel is porn without a plot." Even though it's not really true, since Tony was nerfing smut he shadowbans it. Another reason I can think of is direct request from advertisers.
While I was looking through Tony's posts to figure out criteria for hiding novels, he specifically said that he wouldn't bother with weak reports like "This novel is porn without a plot". He needs detailed information like, "On page 225, (something that breaks content guidelines."
Now, I could understand a direct request from advertisers, but I also saw him state that he would message the author saying why their story was hidden and asking them to fix it.
The circumstantial evidence is still there. There are no more sexy covers, and I believe back in 2020-2022, as long as it wasn't too outrageous, you could use sexy covers. Yet there weren't really any posts about this change.
Covers, is an entirely different issue. NSFW images have never been allowed as covers, and images that are 'too sexy', don't even make it past the initial check to see if they're allowed to be covers. That said, plenty of images that I would consider 'too sexy', do show up as covers in search finder. So we're back to all or nothing, imo...
Nah mate, nah. I can show you examples of what has been allowed before, and what isn't allowed now. "Too sexy" covers that show up in search are ones that were approved before. And the point is that this was changed, but there was zero notifications it happened.
