Yeah, it's a troublesome scale.

Too much; too little....

Yeah! Who needs stories with interesting details!

Seriously though, do what you want, but, I've been struggling for a bit & I keep coming back to the idea that, while criticism and improvement are important, if I write the way other people want, it's not my story anymore. And I want to write my story. There's also the fact people could just be misinterpreting things. At least, I seem to be having issue a lot.

@Freesia.Cutepearl Oh yeah, by the way, are you still reading my story? You said you wanted to read it, right, but you're afraid of the sad stuff.

Did you meet your goals for your story?

I forget how much I've read. I wasn't reading at all for a bit, I guess my mind needed a break, I got really into SMITE for a bit. The past few days I've been reading bits of different stories and feeling a bit more inspired to write again. Maybe I can get back into my cycle of reading and writing soon, I hope.

Thanks for reminding me though, I'd forgotten about it. I'm actually a bit torn, I could passively binge read, but I likely won't remember much for critique. I want to read stories from all my friends, Hans has tons of material, A2 has a whole other story, There's Nahrenne's, Queenfishers, and Miniacia's too, and more.

I usually read on a cheap tablet, so it's not easy to make comments from there. Like, I want to reread Schwarz and make some comments for example. But I'll need to do it from a computer with a keyboard. I might be overthinking things but I don't really want to make mindless comments for critique. Silly comments being an exception.

@HansTrondheim Goals? You mean story goals? Not even close. The story's still far from finished, even though it's already half a million words.

If we're talking about popularity goals, that's still not happening either.

Nah, I mean, did you manage to show the details or scenes or feelings that you wanted in your story? See, being 'over-dramatic' or 'not dramatic' depends on the reader's bias. If he/she is somewhat an 'easily-bored' or 'action-oriented' person, then expect that he/she won't like melodramatic stories.

What I'm saying is that, if you managed to show what you wanted, or intended, then you can disregard his/her review. If the review keeps on bugging you, then you can check for yourself. Usually, we put scenes in a story because we wanted to show something to the audience, and if you managed to do just that, then by all means, do not remove it.

Take mine for example. A usual hot-headed teenager can get bored in some parts of my story; nevertheless, I don't intend to remove those scenes because it shows something about the attitude and behavior of my characters (which is my goal since my work is psychological as well).

If it makes you feel better your story is pretty popular, and I've seen it in the full trending list many times. You certainly beat me in your metrics :blob_teehee:
I would feel even more pressured if I had as many readers as you >.> I do think you've done a much better job of budgeting your words than I, you have 151ch in ~500k words, vs my ~19ch with ~80k words.
