It's simple, really. If you go to a uni that has "higher standing" like Bauman University, the teachers will expect the very best from you. I have a friend that goes there and he was told straight that "You are thought as better than the others, so you should match the status."

MiL = Mother In Law.

My hubby was adopted but reconnected with his biological family as an adult so I have 3 Mother-in-Laws.

Notice: Unreasonably hard but fair... People just expect too much from you..nya.
Sometimes Teachers are extremely biased..nya.

Another notice: For me. I don't know but I think that its just common in Asia. Its just my personal experience.. Nya.

My last 2 years in college we had a teacher from India who was not the best at first (frequently someone in class would literally shout out the term he was using as his accent led to some very odd pronunciations that did not sound English at all) who was AFRAID to fail anyone but the only person who got an "A" from him that year was one who had been working in the field for 2 years & needed class for a promotion

@Assurbanipal_II yeah, we have those. Can't tell you much about it though, I never went in those.

Honestly, our system is simple. A child can study for 9 or 11 years at school. After 9 years you get a basic general education diploma. 11 - "middle" general education.

If you leave after 9 years, you can go to a collage to get "middle" professional education diploma.

At uni, you can get "high" professional education diploma. You can get Bachelor's degree, and then a Master's degree after that.

In America, they don't like failing you out of University.

@Assurbanipal_II well, you can bring money to Professors if you want to get booted from the uni. ~15-20 years ago you could pay them to earn a good grade, but not now.

It's really hard to pay for your graders in Russia in this day and age.

:meowsip: I have my honest doubts that you get booted.

:meowsip: Anyway, thanks everyone for the information, although I am still not closer to my goal to understand what an Asian 100% is.

Not only you can get booted, but you will get booted if you get caught trying to give a bribe. I heard about a guy who passed his exams and was so happy that he gave his teacher a bottle of cognac. The teacher filmed himself pouring out the cognac into the sink and said "We don't accept bribes here." The student got booted the very next day.

:blob_melt: Sure, and that is why Russia is so low on the corruption index, right? I think you were just on the wrong end of the student food chain, maybe? :blob_hmm_two:

That might be the case, or I was lucky enough to have teachers that demaned results and not money. And let's not talk about Russian corruption problems, it always makes me sad.

:blob_melt: Because face it, the same country that admits that their officers are stealing the pay checks of the soldiers and embezzle funds meant for equipment to buy villas here in Italy, is somehow magically resistant to corruption in the education sector? That seems a bit far fetched~.

:meowsip: What I heard about Bauman, at least, tells me that to pass traditionally is possible, but a little bit vitamine B never hurts. Or some ghost writers to support you.
