Time heals all wounds in the sense that the broken nail will be replaced. Just be careful that it does not grow in the wrong direction.

That would be a solid advice, had my nail not broken in into my flesh bit. Imagine the part that held your nails and flesh together, it was broken but not all the way, so now im dealing with a loose nail sticking to my finger.

? So, the root? It depends a lot where and how. Just from the description it is hard to judge.
