There is a difference between.

"Hey i'm not apologizing, you need medical psychological help, go see a doc for your head, here the link to your possible psychotic sickness"
and
"Hey sorry"

Sorry for talking again about this, but that is, like xianxia say, my "heart demon" (SHF)
that and bc its too rare to get someone to agree + A-shiki got too many "defenders" and clearly wrong.
Meanwhile Voidiris (sided w/ me) but they mellowed out and don't bother speaking out like before and its very frustrating+sad.

ps : Do you have any preference (novel/art) ? I share stuff if i ever see it (Apology to u Jemini)

My preferred novels are the stuff that's critically good like WORM and Ascendance of a Bookworm. (Ironic those both have "worm" in the title despite being effectively polar opposites in terms of tone,) as well as stuff like Mother of Learning.

1) Its like a isekai / recreate inventions (but chinese, and its not popcorn stuff but like masterpiece Ascendance Bookworm lvl, pre2020 era writing)
MC (conman) + FL (policewoman) are together as babies.
Also like any smart chinese MCs, they prepare ruthless self defense means.

2) Its like the-greatest-estate-developer (which makes me sad to compare the popularity)
99% similar.
+ MC is the smartest MC in all CNs in history. Predict 4 moves ahead of enemy.

I find it hilarious you describe it as "pre2020 era writing." That said, I think comparing writing and such by time-period like that, writings that are before a certain date are just writings that have already gone thorough "the great filter." That is, the more time that passes, the more the bad material falls away leaving only the true gems behind.

If you compare only the writings that survive said "great filter" and ignore all the items that get filtered out, I'm actually of the opinion that writing is continuously improving over time. There are serious stand-outs like "The Count of Mote Cristo" which was incredibly good while having been written over 100 years ago, but for the most part the gems of one era are better than the gems of the previous era.

My approach toward older Vs. newer material is that I read older material to learn about lore and good world building, and I read newer material to be properly entertained and enjoy what I'm reading. Occasionally, I'll find something that completely blows me away like the 3 I named there, which manage to do both at the same time.
