Read books or coloring books? They could play outside too, but kids doesn't like that nowdays.

Well outside is dangerous, and books are expensive. These parent philosophers talk about how their child doesn't watches tv or phone or video games; and sleep at 10pm. I wonder what they do.

Just don't give them a phone that has interwebs. A phone can call an emergency number even if it doesn't have plan. Also, depending on the kid, a drawing app might be enough for them.
