What about hard and wet?

Yes. I hate hard dirt, why? Because it is really hard to dig in. I prefer dirt that allows my shovel to slide into and lift it out easily. So wet dirt with loam. But personal and I do not have to dig, clay. It has very small dirt particles, which allows for it to keeps its form wet.

But that compactness makes it hard to dig. Imagine trying to punch in sand vs marbles, the sand is smaller than the marbles. Also I like ceramics.

When wet the soil is more separated, water is in between those dirt particles, lubricating it and reducing friction. When dry the soil clumps together, and has a lot of friction. There is a science behind it, but practically wet = good, dry = bad, big particles = good, small = bad.

Sand is not dirt, we do not talk about sand.

If you want a short answers, or a fun test at home, imagine dirt as small spheres. Bad dirt has small marbles, and good dirt has big marbles. Add water after you test both, see how easy it is with that. Also for gardening, small particles hold water better than big particles. Since the gap between each 'sphere' is bigger, and water can slide through it easier.

Already wishing I didn’t comment here, but the allure was so tantalizing.

The science behind dirt is really cool. Water is also magnetic in a sense do to the hydrogen having a negative charge because the oxygen has its other electron more than it does.
