It's gonna be about how menacing low tier cultivators are to mortals >_> and showing how getting started in the first place is hard af.
thing is that means I have to actually research martial arts since I can't bullshit things with chinese magic, so I kind of called the idea off as soon as it came.
@SaliusGebel The "Wu" in Wuxia literally stands for Martial Arts, but I know what you're getting at. I could always have pull a "your body was poisoned and your meridians are fucked up by needles". But my perfectionist side won't be satisfied
Eh tbh it's a physically outmatched MC going up against superpowered druggies, I don't think regular martial arts would be useful. I just have to use google-fu when appropriate
@SsemouyOnan No, not that. Wuxia is about flashy martial arts. Not about practical MMA, or practical HEMA. It's about "pure" martial arts. And "pure" martial arts are flashy, and useless. So you can come up with whatever you want, since "pure" martial arts don't have simple but effective moves like, for example, jab or kimura lock.
flashy martial arts are still martial arts and have basis on the real thing. And straight-up fights with full choreography aren't what I want to write anyways, if I ever wrote them they would be ended in a few moves
To clarify: It's a matter of preference, I enjoy watching things like HEMA and Kali, so I want to incorporate them in my writing instead of over-the-top fight scenes. That's basically it
It's the other way around. Practical martial arts are based on flashy ones.
Also, if you don't want to write fights with full choreography, you don't want to write wuxia. Simple as. Wuxia is not a pure historical genre. It's a low fantasy. And warriors in Wuxia are not simple humans. They are superhumans.
