In [Trash of the Count's Family], the God of Death is actually well respected and somewhat seen as a type of enforcement.
Saying that, necromancers in that world are misunderstood due to their more evil counterpart: dark mages.

Oh, I just got reminded of a supernatural romance series.
The MC is a necromancer whose job is to raise the dead to sort out legal issues that couldn't be resolved without the dead person's words/signatures, etc...
I think the series was called [Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter].

I once watched a show about a pie Baker with necromancer powers (but edited for equivalent exchange and the double tap) and he worked with a private investigator
if I recall the show is "pushing daisies" or something similar
