What if the readers want text to speech? Asking people to pay money when scribblehub offers a better experience for those people is asinine.
Screen readers can read the displayed portion of the page (At least that is what I saw with windows) but will stop after a page and require scrolling.

The blind readers aren't being forced to pay plus if they like the work of an author they can simply resolve the issue by communicating with the author .

I post the chapters on SH though. I don't ask anyone to pay. I simply have my patreon linked to the story.

If the author is popular enough to lock his works under a paywall then the author most likely would have a contract with stuff like Kindle and etc(this is ignoring fanfics and such)

The blind reader can ask the the author for a pdf because last i checked there are plenty of text to speech programs which work on PDFs
Because speculation on disabilities and the challenges those people face is building a straw man. Without talking to someone who has trouble seeing how can someone even know?

I will discuss this later (it's midnight on my part of the world + I will try ask a blind guy i know)
Webnovel's text to speech is at least a token nod to the visually impaired. Although it is inferior to kindle and google assistant. But at least they try.

It's also strange to expect every person who creates a Patreon to make it accessible to the visually impaired. Especially if they aren't naturally thinking about it. It wasn't something I thought about, and no one is raising awareness for people who are visually impaired reading on Patreon.

I asked a blind guy (he has nuclear cataracts + didn't get surgery in the earlier stages) and he said that he rarely ever used the text to speech softwares for reading novels because they usually kill the mood of the novel for him , he preferred an actual human to narrate the novel

Do keep in mind that this is just one blind dude's opinion not the entire blind people community
