Another thing that I don't like in action scenes: Dodging Lasers

Light moves at 3x10^8 m/s aprox 3 million times the speed of sound.

Don't take my word for it, get a flashlight and two people and see how well they can dodge being in the light.

One of my pet peeves is how sci-fi authors simplify semiconductor production. I get that the future things are more advanced but currently these are some of the most complex factories in the world. The industry needs lots of support. 3D printing microchips makes me cringe.

Trying to co-op mythology is easier than subverting it. For example: if a fiction had Hades be the god of heaven and Zeus in charge of the underworld. That can be explained but readers will wonder why it is subverted.
