any tips? any misconceptions I should avoid?

You can't offend me with literature. I am beyond that point in my existence.
Tip: Observe vampires in their natural habitat. A solemn atmosphere will work. It all depends on the bloodline, but most vampires are happy to join in the masquerade.
Misconceptions are different as that also depends on the bloodline. I care not for weak new-blooded day-walkers.
