My power steering went out a few years ago. My dad insisted I go to his mechanic. The mechanic told me the only way to know if it was the power steering was if he disassembled my entire car, which by itself would cost $700. Then I could pay him again to fix it. I said no and took it to another mechanic. He popped the hood, looked at it for ten seconds, then said "Yep, that's your power steering."
