I'm doing edits now, and I asked this forum early on in case the results aren't good.

And it isn't good. I'm out of ideas on how to improve, and I can't forever stay in development hell.

Better cut my losses and cut quick.

So the most important question I have is, are you asking based on whether or not you will get views/engagement or simply if your writing is good or not?

Hm......

Hans go take a break and GO READ.
Find back amusement where there isnt anymore.

Like indie devs, their fun is creating games bc IN THEIR CORE they are gamers.

I would say don't stop writing. Stop looking for fame, fortune, and approval from writing. Your writing doesn't lack passion or craft, is it perfect, no, but there are far worse writers making bank and gaining clout because they got lucky, write what a large group wants, or have connections.

Also, to be honest, compared to focusing on writing isekai etc, how about writing a teacher protag ?

Compared to doing a series with the goal of epicness etc, simply write what you want even if its bs or whatever you think of.

If you enjoy writing, don't give up unless life gets in the way. You could be writing something great and it'll be overlooked just because.

I mean, i saw some CN with utterly nonsense or pure copium or wish-fulfillment, rocks (positively) in popularity bc of how they are.
And easily resonate with lot of readers for it.

And saw some CNs, where the author(s) wrote plot related to their real life job. Like doctor, mentioning real cases THEY SAW in their hospital.
Or interns, writing during breaks as a boring pastime or vent method.

@Tsuru Saint Series has a teacher protag, Kuro.

@JayMark life is slowly getting in the way, hence, I'm weighing if I should continue the wasteful effort.

And to tell an example more closer to you/us,

there was a recent user profile post saying : (not exact quote)

My sub series about a tavern, is somehow getting more popularity than my main series.

THIS SERIES IS SIMPLY one that i write with my brain turned off / while waiting for others, and me adding my dry humor in it !
^i replied : slice is now very popular + dont underestimate random thoughts

Don't be ashamed to go on public hiatus but work on things in your free times to bring out later.

Yes but is it truly what you want him to do or say? Or is it embellished ?
How about doing a self-insert version that vent of shitty students ? or doing modern settings ? (and not isekai).

The problem is that most series always do isekai/fantasy and doing grand scheme of saving the world.

But CNs : you get school doctor telling funny anecdotes(bulb in mouth)

But yes, take a break.
Life is clearly more important.

Especially as you dont get paid for it (writing).

Anyway, resolve your troubles, find fun again (not necessarily writing but anything) and write IF YOU WANT TO (or like it).
Give it up completely if you want or just hiatus.

TLDR :
Stop writing. Take back pen when you feel ready.
Go do new things. And take care of yourself. (very important, most important)
