What's your favorite scary movie? Followup question: is your favorite scary movie also the scariest movie you've ever seen?

My favorite scary movie is either Dead Silence or In the Mouth of Madness, depending on if I'm in the mood for a ghost story or something lovecraftian. Neither of those are the scariest movies I've ever seen before. That would either be 1988 remake of The Blob (A KID GETS FREAKIN' MELTED!) or Hereditary.

Do you know of the 'Shake Rattle and Roll' movies? Those ones

It's difficult to pick between The others and The Blair witch project. I guess, Blair is better as a horror, but The others as a proper movie.
I'd also mention The sixth sense, Cargo 200, Afflicted and 1408 as amazing specimens.
When it comes to the scariest, then it's hands down Gonjiam. Also, Palms (1994), if we are considering documentaries.

Oh man. I'd say Get Out, Cabin In The Woods, IT, and I literally just watched Sinners. Horror movies are so cliche on average that I don't have a lot of favorites.
