Its never a compliment around here.
With how many people jump to accusations of A.I when someone writes more than one coherent sentence, it's at least confirmation of some kind of "skill," even if they're equating your skill to an algorithmic conglomerate of averages.
Im not good enough to even scammer messages... :sweating_profusely:
Don't say that. 😭 Maybe you're doing so well that they didn't want to waste their time on you.

The LLM's have been slurping shit and most of the prompters arnt much better so those alsorithmic averages are for the most part still shit.

You are new around here so you dont understand how certain regulars act. Some may say it in jest because they dont want to read a wall of text, but i will say it again. Its never a compliment around here.

I mean, look, while patterns are easily recognizable, I doubt many give a close attention to those.
That's the thing. They don't pay attention. The wast majority of writers will not check the forum for a thread like this before they receive the first scam messages. Most of those to whom this thread would be relevant only check the forum after they get burned - usually banned along with the bot they responded to, mistaking it for a genuine feedback - and even then they do not look for "How to recognize a scammer 101", they are not even looking for cases similar to their own. They go straight to opening a new thread, asking the same question that has been answered countless times before.

I'm not saying there is no purpose to this thread, but it is quite limited. Especially when it comes to shaming them, since they do not care, even if they are not bots in the first place, and even more so with how quickly they get banned after they get reported.

It assumes that they're actually a scammer, and not just an unethical mass-marketing entity that will provide the service regardless of quality. (Maybe this is confirmed, but I've never heard of anyone taking the bait and not getting something in return. I mean, A.I art that costs fractions of a penny.
That's the scam. They get "Das Boot" when reported.
"well, its *technically* legal" isn't an argument for allowing it to exist.
at least not here, this isn't a courtroom.
The newer scam is "the helpful professional editor".
So far they don't get Das Boot, but they get held up for public ridicule.
Kind of our version of being in the stocks in Medieval england and everyone throws vegetables at them.
If you fall for either scam, you would have to be extremely new at this or extremely gullible or more then likely a bit of both.
Everyone's trying to fight first one now the other.
I'm sure another scam will come along in time, I'm curious what form it will take.

is there a YouTube video out there, for the "side hustle"?
lol.
if you got 50, 100 bucks burning a hole in your pocket though...
ask around and get yourself a great keyboard.
Then use it to write more, faster, more comfortably.
That combined with absorbing tips and tricks about writing here, will do more for you.
sending someone 50 to 100 bucks to send you an AI image you could have made yourself in 10 seconds, won't.
sending someone 50 to 100 bucks to just email you AI generated crap about your writing, won't either.

if you already have a great keyboard?
Hell, I'll send you pictures of my *cat*, as many as you want.
and that will help your writing out, just abut as much as the two scams put together.
He's entertaining, but for an average person, getting a random phone call and hanging it up because it's a scam is an entirely different realm than waging war against the call center itself. 😂
If someone located a scam call center, and crowdfunded a team of military contractors to deal with them overseas? I'll pitch my five bucks in, lol.

Just imagine a small crowd of us all bust in, swinging pick-axe handles like a good old fashioned "picket line" strike violence from the good old days. My buddy's mom got hit for a thousand a month for months on end from a scammer. Police can't do a thing.

Whatever anyone (if ever) does to them when they find them, is fine by me.

Thanks, Alski. I just choose to be positive. I write because I love to write, so the only negative I can process in the context of the writing world is literary and narrative critique.
