    AI Quiz

About a mix of both. They all just feel so equally bland to me but I can't figure out why. Maybe it's just not a style I like, or maybe I'd like it more if I read it within the actual book. But I also hate lengthy prose/description, so that could be a big part of it too.

    AI Quiz

Just about every passage sounded like AI to me, but my brain is also a bit fried right now. My result ended up being no preference. (Though only three I chose the AI option for, and those were a "this bores me less" type of choice instead of actually liking it.)

    How to move forward?

You have to stop paying attention to the stats and analytics. Stop checking them, remember why you started writing in the first place, and write. If you're struggling to write, or are starting to feel like your story sucks, take a week off from writing. I've been going through something similar...

Do authors want readers to point out spelling/typos in comments?

Yeah, I think this is the best way to go about it. I've never been comfortable giving unsolicited feedback because you don't know what kind of person the writer is. You might end up in an argument. You might make a depressed person give up writing. They could be a really thin-skinned person...

Do authors want readers to point out spelling/typos in comments?

I'm fine with it, as long as it's not the only interaction I'm getting from the person. To me, it comes off as critical otherwise. Like, you can point out the smallest, most meaningless mistakes but can't be bothered to favorite a chapter or say you liked the story? It makes it hard for me to...

    How to write previous relationships.

I took a quick look/skim and from what I picked up, the beginning seems okay to me. I prefer when stories dump you straight into action instead of giving a long-winded history lesson. (I do think the opening scene could benefit from a bit more interiority from the main character. Like, why was...

    How to write previous relationships.

I don't know if I'm missing context, but I don't see how simply mentioning two characters shared a past would confuse the readers. Just drop a sentence of two of how they met in the past. Maybe the first scene you write of them meeting, you could summarize what happened the last time they saw...

    Mandatory review for rating low.

I agree with everyone on how people will just dumb it down to "I like this" or "I hate this." Inkitt has it so you have to write actual words for the review, and even states above the text box to give details on what you liked or disliked. I think it even has a word minimum imposed. Still, a lot...

Is 5k words too much for the first chapter?

Is it possible to break it in half into a part 1, part 2? If not, then I don't see any other solution other than to make sure it's an amazing first chapter that'll keep people hooked. Personally, I'm not a fan of large chapters when it comes to online stories, but because I need plenty of...

the whole thing "AI does all the work," is a myth and a lie here's why

People can do whatever they want with AI at this point within reason, but people who use AI to write stories for them shouldn't call themselves writers. Part of being a writer is, well, writing. If all you're (not just you but, in the general sense) doing is feeding a bunch of your ideas to a...

What do you think the next big fad will be?

I didn't mean a first time trend. I meant it started the trend up again. There was a huge boom in dystopian trilogies coming out after Hunger Games (Divergent, Legends, Uglies) and vampires got really popular again with Twilight (though I can't think of any major examples at the moment aside...

Anyone working on any story anthologies?

It might not classify as an anthology, but the thing I have up leans in that direction. It's very episodic, with a couple storylines contained within one giant chapter broken into 3-4 parts. But sometimes there's storylines that cross over into other chapters. So, less like an anthology and more...

What do you think the next big fad will be?

This is what I was thinking too. It seems like a lot of trends get kicked off by one book in a genre gaining mass popularity. Like hunger games started a dystopian trend, and twilight started a vampire trend.

    Writing When is head-hopping head-hopping?

Head-hopping, to my understanding, is when you're writing through one character's POV, and then in the middle of the scene, you jump in and tell the story from a different character's POV, and then back to the other character's POV. It's not so much confusing as it is jarring. Typically if...

    Holzer books publishing company

Every time I receive emails like that, the first thing I do is Google the publisher's name and type scam after it. Every time, links come up saying it's a scam. But I tried it with this one and nothing about them is coming up (except for a link to their website where they swear they're not a...
