What will you do when you find a new idea after making a complete outline?

It depends on which stage I'm on and if the idea is compatible with a current project. If I'm writing the first chapter, then I can recreate the whole thing with a new idea in mind. If I'm in the middle of a novel, then I leave the idea for the next project.

    Views but no readers?

What's wrong with using AI? So many authors have the same problem with a synopsis. If you struggle with it, at least learn from AI how to do it right.

    Views but no readers?

Synopsis does nothing for me, too. If you're struggling with that, try feeding your text to an AI and ask for a short teaser. 4-5 sentences max. I noticed they became really good at summarizing novellas.

    Very Unfair Story Feedback Thread

Waitaminute... Does that mean you will not remember my novel if you read it? What's the point then?

    Description questions for everyone

My answer could be limited by my understanding of nuances in the English language, but I believe I comprehend your questions correctly. (Or, at least, the text in your questions...) And since you didn't give any specifics, I'm taking this as a philosophy exercise. A) Can you explain why one...

    The first chapter problem

As an author, I kinda understand the need to change my approach to satisfy a reader. Your friend is aware of that, too. That's a good mindset to have. On the other hand, such an approach is a punishment to the author, because you need to stomp on your pride quite hard. Sometimes writers need to...

    The first chapter problem

Ha ha... Yeah, I know that feeling. A week ago I had the same experience, for a bit different reason. I have a feeling that some readers have the attention span of a goldfish, and they're punishing writers for that.

    The first chapter problem

Alright. I'll rephrase: So, you're saying that if you're doing it for free, you give less respect to your work and your readers? How will this approach help you to increase your audience?

    The first chapter problem

So, you're saying that the whole 'being a writer' thing is just money and no pleasure for you? I'd say you picked the wrong hobby, pal. Most writers do it for free for 3 main reasons: 1. To become a better writer. For that, you need to practice - a LOT. 2. To gather readers and make your name...

    The first chapter problem

I'm not against 'mundane'. Hell, I myself do cliche scenes quite often. Even in intro chapters. I'm against thinking that some part of your novel can be executed dismissively, just to get to the 'good part'. Perhaps I'm just a sad perfectionist...

    Need some suggestions

The 3rd person narration, that breaks the 4th wall? That's a bit intrusive. Usually, the narrator stays invisible to a reader for a good reason. To be less distracting. If you break 4th wall too often, it becomes annoying. Narrator interacts with a reader - that's a big annoyance, too. At this...

    The first chapter problem

Good morning, fellow writers! And readers! And... the other ones, whoever they are. After spending a couple of long weeks here and flipping through several dozen novellas, I've noticed a strange... local trend that I'd like to discuss. Have you heard the saying that 'the first chapter is the...

Why use AI to write your "book"?

Rare mindset for those who love the art of storytelling. But if they're lazy (and most people are), then it's a game with AI. Not that I'm worried. Even working with AI needs some skills and dedication. For example, if you want to write a novel with AI, you still need to know how to steer the...
